The ES is a trail-blazer in lightweight expedition sleeping bags. Often put to the test by expeditions and winter mountaineers, it features triple-layer GLT insulation, with a fourth insulation layer from the knee downward. A thick thermal draft tube on the upper side of the zipper and a somewhat thinner one on the underside provide a perfect seal. The second zipper inside the draft tubes should be closed at temperatures below -25°C (-13°F). This gives an even better seal and reduces the inside volume of the sleeping bag and therefore the amount of space to be warmed, as well as providing a lot more loft. The draft tubes between the two zippers ensure optimum insulation along this critical area. The breathable loose-fitting Shellproof shell protects the bag against wind and moisture from the outside while still allowing moisture to escape from the inside.
